As the former CEO of Greyston Bakery in Yonkers, NY, Mike pioneered the company’s groundbreaking Open Hiring® model, which eliminates interviews and background checks and hires on a first-come, first-served basis, creating jobs for people traditionally excluded from the workforce. While this approach provided stability and opportunity, Brady recognized its limits in building long-term wealth. This led him to become an advocate for employee ownership and co-found 40 Million Owners, helping workers not only get a job, but create equity and a pathway to shared prosperity.

Growing up watching the decline of local industry showed Michael how traditional financial models extract value from communities. After a career in conventional finance left him disillusioned, he searched for and discovered alternative ownership models as practical solutions to address the structural wealth divide and revitalize communities. This led him to co-found 40 Million Owners to grow ESOPs and bridge capital markets with impact-driven models that create shared wealth.
